Situated in Nghe AN province. Cua Lo Beach is among the most beautiful beaches in the northern region of Vietnam. Just 18km away from the center of Vinh city, Cua Lo Beach is the magnet for almost all domestic tourists from both north and center of the country. This 10km long beach is famous for its white sand and blue water, outlined by a stunning pine forest and coconut tree-lined shore.

There, in addition to sunbathing on the beach, the neighborhood offers tourists the beautiful landscape of the Hồng Lĩnh mountain, President Ho Chi Minh’s home village of Kim Liên, Ngư, Lan Châu and Mắt islands, Cửa Hội ecological site, Bua Cave, and the Kim Sơn hot spring.

Trần Văn Bình is a visitor. He said, “Cửa Lò is a tourist destination in the central region. There you can relax on the beautiful beach to enjoy the fresh air. You can also visit the home village of President Ho Chi Minh, an historical relic site.”

Taking a boat to unspoiled islands, mountain climbing, diving, and visiting historical relic sites are some of the things you can do while in Cửa Lò. A temple dedicated to Mandarin Nguyễn Sư Hồi, Đảo Ngư pagoda, and Quân Tùng mountain are popular destinations.

Hiring local fishermen’s boats to go to the sea in the early morning is an interesting experience that you should not miss.

Nguyễn Thị Tâm, a tourist from Hanoi, said, “This is my first time in Cửa Lò and Vinh. The beach is crowded, even during the early days of summer vacation. The sea is clean and local people are hospitable.”

The Cửa Lò Township was set up in 1994 and recognized as a marine tourism urban area by the Prime Minister in 2014. The locality has upgraded its infrastructure, recreation centers, and hotels.

The local administration is implementing 4 major projects to build a tourism, trade, and sports complex, an ethnic cultural village, a park, and a night market to draw more visitors.

Cửa Lò’s more than 280 hotels with more than 7,500 rooms can accommodate more than 2.5 million tourists a year.

Nguyễn Mạnh Dũng, a tourist official in Nghệ An said, “Cửa Lò intends to modernize its tourism infrastructure and create a civilized tourism environment with friendly and hospitable people.”

The locality is promoting tourist links with neighboring provinces including Hà Tĩnh, Thanh Hóa and Quảng Bình to diversify its tourist products. Cửa Lò has set up a center to introduce local products and provide tourist information service.

Cua Lo is also renowned for its surrounding islands. Not far away from the coast are three gorgeous islands named Hon Ngu, Hon Chu and Hon Mat. To the north is Lan Chau Island and to the south east is Song Ngu island. These islands are not only striking spots but also serve as the shield, which protects Cua Lo Beach from storms and strong ocean wind. Visitors can easily get to these islands in few minutes with boats hired from operator at the seashore.

Dining & Activities:

Coming to Cua Lo, tourists can also try many kind of seafood like shrimps, crabs and cuttlefish whether at the restaurants or on the beach. The most interesting activities many find here is when tourists can go fishing with the local fishermen at night.
